What happens if I miss repayments?
When taking out a credit agreement, it’s important to know what can happen if you stop making repayments. Your credit file will be affected, and your credit score could decrease. Having a less-than-perfect file can have a number of consequences which you should be aware of.
Missing repayments can have a negative impact on your credit score, meaning you may be rejected for future credit applications.
Your ability to take out further lines of credit may be impacted by falling behind on repayments. Lenders may offer a smaller credit limit, or higher interest rates.
Anyone who is financially associated with you (for example through a joint bank account or credit agreement), may also struggle to access lines of credit.
By continually missing repayments, you risk additional late fees being applied to your account, as well as risking legal action required to recover the amount you owe.
